A personalised makeup bag is the gift that gets bought for a bridesmaid, a teacher or a daughter going to university, and then quietly becomes the pouch that lives in someone's handbag for three years. It works because it is useful every day and because the name on it means it is never picked up by the wrong person. This guide covers the thing people ask about most, the raised puff print, then wording, sizing and care.
What a 3D puff print is
Our personalised makeup bag uses two kinds of print. The wording is printed into the cotton canvas, so it sits flat and soft with no plastic feel. The optional icon, a heart, a lipstick, a coffee cup, an apple for a teacher, is a puff print: a single-colour design that is raised a millimetre or two off the fabric, with a slightly matte, velvety surface you can feel with a fingertip.
Puff print works because it adds texture to a flat object. On a slim pouch that lives in a bag, the raised icon is what makes it feel like a made thing rather than a printed one. Two honest notes: it is one colour (usually red, because it contrasts with both the beige and the white canvas), and it should not be ironed directly, because heat flattens the raise. Not every design needs one. A text-only pouch in a clean font is just as popular, and for a monogram it is often the better choice.
Size, and what fits inside
The pouch is about 21 cm wide and 12 cm high, slim and flat with a black zip. That is the size of a large pencil case, and it holds what a pencil case holds: a foundation, a mascara, a couple of lipsticks and a compact; or a phone charger and cable; or pens, a highlighter and a small notebook. It does not hold a full brush set standing up, and it is not a wash bag for a week away. It is the pouch that goes inside the bigger bag, which is exactly why it gets used daily.
Two colours: natural beige, which reads warm and casual, and white, which reads cleaner and suits a monogram or a wedding party.
Fifty wording ideas that fit a 21 cm pouch
Short wins here. The print area is wide but not tall, so one line prints boldest; two short lines still read well; three lines start to shrink.

Choosing the font and colour
Script suits names and wedding parties. Block and Mono suit initials and dry wording, and read best from across a room. On beige canvas, dark text (black, deep brown, terracotta) has the strongest contrast; on white canvas almost any colour works, but pale pastels get lost. If you add a puff icon, keep the text to one colour so the icon stays the focal point. Our font guide goes through the six styles.
Washing it without lifting the print
- Hand wash gently in cool water when needed and air dry.
- No bleach, no tumble dryer, no scrubbing over the printed area.
- If it needs ironing, iron on the reverse only. Never iron over the puff icon.
Treated that way the pouch outlasts the make-up in it. Everything is made to order in Cheshire, usually dispatched within one to three working days, with free UK delivery. Because the pouch carries the wording you type, it cannot be returned for a spelling change, so read it back before you check out. For a matching set, pair it with the personalised jewellery box or the tote bag gift set; the wider range is in gifts for her, and there are more ideas in our bridesmaid gift guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is a puff print on a makeup bag?
A single-colour icon raised a millimetre or two off the canvas with a soft, matte surface you can feel. The wording itself is printed flat into the fabric; only the optional icon is raised.
What size is the personalised makeup bag?
About 21 cm wide and 12 cm high, slim and flat, with a black zip. It holds everyday make-up, a charger and cable, or pens and a small notebook.
Can I wash a personalised makeup bag?
Yes, by hand in cool water, then air dry. Do not bleach, tumble dry, scrub the print or iron over the puff icon; iron on the reverse only if needed.
