What it is
A 600 ml double-wall insulated aluminium bottle, about 20.5 cm tall and 7.3 cm wide, with a smooth white printable finish, a screw cap and a carabiner clip. The width is the practical point: it slides into a rucksack side pocket rather than living inside the bag with the books. The double wall keeps water cooler for longer than a single-skin bottle, which is the difference between a drink at 2 pm and a warm bottle brought home full.
The leak question
Bottles leak at the mechanism: flip lids, push-button spouts and straws all have moving parts and a seal that ages. A screw cap has one seal and no mechanism, which is why this bottle is the one we suggest for a school bag with a reading book in it. Screwed down properly it stays shut in a bag on its side. The trade-off is honest: a screw cap needs two hands and a moment, so for a three-year-old a nursery-style flip bottle may be easier; for a school-age child the screw cap is the safer choice.
The dishwasher answer
Hand wash. Warm water, a little washing-up liquid, a bottle brush for the inside, rinse the cap thread. Insulated metal bottles as a category do not belong in the dishwasher: heat and detergent get between the two walls over time and dull the printed finish. Thirty seconds at the sink keeps the name crisp and the insulation working for the whole school year.

Font and colour
Block or Mono for a school bottle: clear, upright, readable when the bottle is lying on its side in a tray. Script suits an adult's bottle or a teacher gift.
