A personalised gift cannot be un-printed, so the check before printing is the most important minute of the whole process. This is what actually happens to an order between the moment it arrives and the moment it goes into the press, written down so you know what is caught, what is not, and what you can do at your end to make the check trivial.
1. Every field is read back
Your order arrives with every choice you made listed against the item: the wording exactly as typed, the font, the colour, the icon, the placement, the note, the file you uploaded. Nothing is retyped by hand, which removes the most common way names get misspelled. The wording is read once for obvious typos (a doubled letter, a missing apostrophe) and compared with your note if you left one. We print what you typed; if "Emliy" looks like a typo of Emily, we email before printing rather than guess.
2. The file is opened at print size
Photos and logos are opened at the size they will print. A photo that is sharp on a phone and soft at mug size is caught here, and so is a logo with a white box around it, a screenshot, or a file with the wrong background. Simple fixes (cutting a logo out of a white box, straightening a scan) are done as a matter of course. Anything that would change the look of your design gets an email with the options. The upload guide is the list of what we look for.
3. The colour is checked against the surface
A pale colour on a white product, a dark colour on a black one, a text colour too close to the food jar's body: the contrast rules are applied to every order. If the preview on the product page had to show your text on a dark patch to make it readable, this is where it is queried.
4. Shirts are laid out at print size
For the personalised t-shirts, the design is placed on the shirt at the size it will print and checked before anything goes on fabric, and the wording is printed exactly as supplied. For everything else the layout follows the product's set positions (name on the chest, wording centred on the panel), and a note asking for something different is followed where the product allows it.
5. What we will never change without asking
Your spelling, and your capitalisation. "emily" prints as "emily"; "EMILY" prints as "EMILY"; "Emily-Rose" keeps its hyphen. A name that looks unusual to us is very often correct, so it is queried, never corrected. The same goes for dates: "05.03.2026" is printed as typed, which is why the birth details guide asks you to decide the format first.
6. Then the press, then a second look
After printing, each piece is checked against the order once more (right product, right colour, right wording, straight placement) before it is packed. That is the last look before it reaches you.
What you can do at your end
- Type the name as it should print; do not rely on the note to correct it.
- Read the personalisation back once at checkout, and check the confirmation email.
- Upload the original file, not a screenshot.
- If two spellings are possible, say which in the note.
- If you spot a mistake after ordering, email support@larencraft.com straight away with the order number; before printing it is a one-line fix.
Everything is printed to order in Cheshire, usually dispatched within one to three working days, with free UK delivery. Because of the checks above, a personalised item cannot be returned for a spelling change; if it arrives faulty or not as ordered, it is replaced. The long version of the process is in how personalised gifts are actually made, and the policy in plain words is on the customisation policy page.
Frequently asked questions
Do you check spelling before printing a personalised gift?
The wording is read back against your order and note, and obvious typos are queried by email before printing. Unusual spellings are never corrected without asking, because they are usually right.
Will you fix a low-quality photo or logo?
Files are opened at print size; simple fixes such as cutting a logo out of a white box are done as a matter of course, and anything that would change your design gets an email with options.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Before printing, yes: email support@larencraft.com with the order number straight away. After printing a personalised item cannot be changed or returned for a spelling change.
