Care Guide: How to Wash Every Personalised Gift We Make

Personalised apron, machine washable at a low temperature

Every product we make has a washing answer, and the answers differ because the print methods differ: a design fused into a glaze survives a dishwasher, a design printed on the outside of a glass does not, and a vacuum-insulated wall should not meet dishwasher heat at all. This is the whole list in one place, with the reason for each, so you can find yours in ten seconds.

Dishwasher-safe

  • Photo mug: yes, normal programme, standard tablet. Microwave-safe too. The design is sublimated into a polymer coating bonded to the glaze, so there is no edge to lift; why it survives explains it.

Machine wash

  • Aprons (adult, kids, branded): low temperature, inside out, similar colours; skip the tumble dryer if you can; no iron over the print. Polyester dries overnight on a hook.
  • T-shirts (personalised, graphic and couple tees): cold wash, inside out, similar colours; tumble low or hang dry; no bleach; no iron directly over the print.
  • Cushion covers: covers off the inserts, cool wash inside out, dry flat or low tumble, iron on the reverse.

Hand wash

  • Insulated steel (20oz, 40oz, water bottle, food jar): warm soapy water, bottle brush, dry upside down; straw brush for straws; take lid seals out every few days. Dishwasher heat works on the vacuum wall and dulls the print.
  • Iced coffee glass: hand wash, no soaking, no scrubbing the printed face; the design is on the outside of the glass. Cold drinks only; no microwave.
  • Bento box: hand wash, inner tray out, gasket groove cleaned, lid open to dry. The applied name and the silicone seal both last longer without dishwasher heat.
  • Canvas (makeup bag, pet tote, tote set): cool water by hand, air dry flat, no bleach, no tumble, iron on the reverse only, never over a puff icon.
  • Pet bandana: cool hand wash or a cool gentle cycle in a wash bag, air dry flat.
  • Fabric coaster: hand wash, dry flat.

Wipe only

  • Bunny plush: damp cloth and mild soap on the surface, air dry away from heat, no scrubbing the tummy panel; never machine wash.
  • Jewellery box: soft dry cloth; no solvents on the lid; keep out of sun and damp.
  • Mouse pad: damp cloth and washing-up liquid, air dry flat; never machine wash (the rubber base).
  • Lunch bag: wipe the foil lining and the outside, dry open; no machine.
  • Jute bag: spot-clean; if soaked, dry open and upright.
  • Wooden coaster and heart magnet, photo magnets, acrylic sign, notebook, bookmark, stickers, gift bags: wipe or dust; do not soak wood; keep the sign out of solvents.
  • Gold cutlery: hand wash and dry straight away; no dishwasher.

The three rules behind the list

  1. If the design is in the material (sublimated mug, apron, tee), it takes the washing the material takes.
  2. If the design is on the surface (glass, bento name), keep heat and scrubbing away from it.
  3. If the object is insulated (steel drinkware), protect the vacuum wall from dishwasher heat, whatever the print.

Everything is printed to order in Cheshire, usually dispatched within one to three working days, with free UK delivery. A piece washed as above that fails is a fault, not wear, and is replaced; email support@larencraft.com with a photo. The process behind the first rule is in how personalised gifts are made.

Frequently asked questions

Which personalised products are dishwasher-safe?
The ceramic photo mug. Everything else is machine wash (aprons, tees, cushion covers), hand wash (steel drinkware, glass, bento, canvas) or wipe only (plush, jewellery box, mouse pad, lunch bag, wood).

Can I iron over a printed design?
No. Iron aprons, tees, canvas and cushion covers on the reverse only, and never over a raised puff icon.

Why is insulated drinkware hand-wash?
Dishwasher heat works on the vacuum seal between the two steel walls and dulls the printed wrap. Warm soapy water and a bottle brush keep both intact.
